When are royalty checks mailed?

Each month royalty checks will be mailed on the 20th for the Eagleford, South Texas interest and the last day of the month for the Arkoma, Oklahoma interest.  If the mailing date falls on a weekend or holiday, checks will be mailed the following business day.

Please allow 10 business days after the check issuing date to contact Trinity Operating regarding missing payment. Stop payment requests will not be processed until 30 days have lapsed. Most financial institutions honor checks for up to 180 days.  Contact Owner Relations if you have an issue depositing an expired royalty check.

Why haven't I received my check?

Due to possible mail delivery issues, please wait ten business days before contacting Trinity Operating.

Checks will not be issued until a minimum of $100.00 in royalties has been reached. If the accrued balance is less than $100.00, there will be no check issued that month. You may, however, submit a written request for funds to be issued to you when your accrued amount reaches $25.00.

Smaller revenue amounts that have accumulated more than $10 per owner are disbursed at least once annually.

If the above reasons do not apply, your interest may have been placed in suspense due to a bad address, transfer of interest, or title dispute.  Please contact Owner Relations so we can better serve you.

What if my check is lost, stolen, or becomes outdated?

Contact Owner Relations to request payment if your check has been lost, stolen or is outdated.  Please have the following information ready:

  • Your name
  • Your owner number
  • Your taxpayer identification number
  • Check information, if available (date, number, amount)

Why does my monthly payment sometimes vary/or differ from family members?

Market conditions, regulatory or contractual changes, production activities, environmental conditions, and/or accounting adjustments may be factors affecting your monthly payment.

Regarding family members, ownership between family members may not be equal, one member has not provided a W-9 (TIN or Social Security Number), or they may own interest in other properties.

What kind of taxes are deducted from my check?

Generally, state severance taxes are deducted. Further, if you do not provide us your Social Security Number, we may withhold federal income tax as required by the Internal Revenue Service. If you are a non-resident alien, we may deduct federal income tax from your check.

Why are federal taxes being withheld from my check?

If a valid Tax ID or a Social Security number is not provided to us or if you are a resident of a foreign country, then federal taxes will be withheld from your check.

What are the deductions on my check?

The deductions are usually transportation or gathering charges, as specified on your lease.

OTHER QUESTIONS

Who is Trinity Operating?

Trinity Operating is the operator of the well(s) referenced on your Division Order and is responsible for disbursing revenue to the owners in the well.

What is a division order?

A Division Order is a non-binding directive, issued by the operator, signed on behalf of the Interest Owner verifying his/her decimal interest of production owned in the well(s). It also provides the owner’s remittance address and taxpayer identification number or Social Security Number.

  • Your taxpayer identification number
  • Well information (well number, well name)

Where do I send documents to have them recorded?

To ensure chain of title, all conveyance and heirship documents must be filed of record with the county or parish where the property is located.  For example, if a well is located in Pittsburg County, OK, then the documents must be filed in Pittsburg County, OK.

For a full or partial conveyance of a mineral, royalty, overriding royalty or working interest, please furnish:

  • A copy of the conveyance document recorded in the county and state where the property is located.
  • If an unrecorded copy is submitted, the interest will be suspended until we are provided with a recorded copy.
  • Address and Social Security/Tax ID number

You may want to seek legal advice when preparing these documents. If transferring to a trust, provide a copy of the document appointing Trustee.

What happens when the interest owner of a well dies?

Title to real property owned by the deceased party passes one of two ways – either by testate succession or by intestate succession. Testate is with a probated Last Will and Testament. Intestate is without a Will, or the Will is not probated. In the absence of a Will, or if the Will has not been probated, title to real property passes according to the Laws of Descent and Distribution for the State in which the wells are located, and not the state of residence.

Depending on the circumstance, certain documentation will be required.
